Volumetric Charging
How to calculate volumetric weight
Rates are based on the total actual weight or the total dimensional weight of all packages in a shipment, whichever is greater.
How to determine dimensional weight
Shipping charges will be based on the dimensional weight of the shipment when the dimensional weight exceeds the actual weight.
Dimensional weight is determined by using GCCS volumetric standard.
- Step 1:
Calculate cubic size :
Multiply the length by the width and by the height (each rounded up to the nearest whole centimeter) of each package - Step 2:
Determine the dimensional weight :
Divide the cubic size of the package by 4,000 (normal) or by 3,500 (Europe) to determine the dimensional weight in kilograms.
Increase fractions of a weight to the next full kilogram.
Multiple-piece shipment dimensional weight is the sum of all dimensional weight of all packages within the shipment. - Step 3:
Determine the dimensional weight using our Calculator.
Normal Volumetric weight is calculated using the formula below :
Calculating the Volumetric Weight of a Normal Package
Width (cm) |
Length (cm) |
Height (cm) |

Volumetric Weight of Package in Kilograms=
The calculation being performed above is: Width x Length x Height in centimeters / 4000 = Volumetric Weight in kilograms
